The second largest airport in France is located at the east end of the Promenade des Anglais, 6 km away from the city center, which is very convenient. In comparison with the more remote location of some airports, Nice can claim to be the most accessible airport in the world. Once you have completed your immigration and baggage check, you will be able to reach the city center in no time. Here are the different options available.
By bus
Ligne d’Azur, the city of Nice’s bus network, offers two services (lines 98 and 99) ensuring exclusively the transfer from airport. Line 98 runs along the Promenade des Anglais to the Vieux-Nice, passing Piazza Garibaldi and the port, to end at Nice-Riquier railway station. The terminus of line 99 is located at Thiers train station, and it also runs along the Promenade before reaching one of the one of the city’s main thoroughfares, Boulevard Gambetta. Both lines leave terminal 2, before picking up passengers at terminal 1.
By rail
To go to nearby cities (Cannes, Villefrance-sur-Mer or Antibes), the train is the ideal mean of transport. The official airport shuttle transfers passengers to the Arénas stop for easy access to the city’s three train stations:
• Nice-Riquier train station in is eastern part,
• Thiers train station in the center,
• Saint-Augustin station in its western part.
Shuttle is highly recommended for newcomers since it might be quite complicated for them to reach the stations.
By taxi
A fleet of taxis including many high-end German models and brands (Mercedes, Audi, etc.) are waiting for newcomers in front of both terminals. Travelers should bring cash to pay the fare, ATMs and currency exchange offices are available inside the terminals. Some companies offer a service of Nice airport transfer and allow customers to book without extra cost.
Also, there is now a private helicopter taxi service ensuring the transfer between Nice airport to Monaco. You will then reach the Principality in just a few minutes, while enjoying a very pleasant flight.
By car
To get freely around Nice, public transport is quite restrictive. Therefore, you may prefer to rent a car with a private driver during your stay, the choice of rental agencies is yours. Just make sure the professionalism of the provider and the good condition of the vehicle made available for your use.
